HeROPA Study

Last year we took part in the HeROPA study, a trial investigating the efficacy and safety of the investigational drug HRO350 for mild‑to‑moderate psoriasis. Approximately 519 participants were enrolled globally across five countries (UK, Germany, Poland, Finland and Norway). We recruited 12 of those patients, 8 of which received the drug and 4 the placebo. Recent results from the HeROPA clinical trial suggest that HRO350, a natural, oil-based capsule made from herring roe, may help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms in people with mildto-moderate psoriasis. The treatment contains naturally occurring marine fats found in the normal human diet and was shown to be safe and well tolerated, with no serious treatment-related side effects reported over a year of use. Although the main study goal was not met—largely due to an unexpectedly strong placebo effect—patients who remained on HRO350 for a full year showed meaningful improvements, particularly in specific patient groups. Blood tests also showed significant reductions in systemic inflammation, which in some patients were linked to clearer skin and better quality of life. These findings support the potential of HRO350 as a future treatment option and highlight the importance of identifying patients most likely to benefit as the programme moves toward further development and partnership discussions
